RE: Laptop switching between battery and power supply

I would not do it yourself if you have never soldered before. get a friend to do it. Every laptop is different too.

RE: usb gps receivers (looking for a sensitive one)

The LT 40 uses the TESEO chipset which is supposedly better than the SIRF chipset.
thanks again!

RE: usb gps receivers (looking for a sensitive one)

Nice setup. How much was the TS? what OBDII program are you using?
I didn't like to leave the laptop in the open either and decided to go with a touch screen.

This works nicely in case you don't want to buy a second receiver.

usb gps receivers (looking for a sensitive one)

Hi guys, I have both a laptop with streets and trips 2008 and a magellan miestro 3250. I like not always having to have the laptop open in the truck. BUT the older usb gps receiver I bought 3 years ago off Ebay kinda stinks. Its no where as sensitive as the Magellan is. I can get reception in our 2 story home on the first floor with the magellan. I get no signal at all wih the oldusb gps receiver.
Does anyone have a recomendation on a usb gps receiver? How is the SIRF III chipset?
PS: you cant beat the detail and ability to zoom in and out with streets of trips and a 15" LCDscreen :p
thanks

RE: de-winterizing steps

Thanks :B
Here's my list
1. Check/clean demand pump filter screen.
2. Check/clean air conditioner filter
3. Un-bypass HWH (handle horizontal), connect TT to house water.
4. Remove HWH drain plug (7/8”), flush HWH, install drain plug.
5. Completely Fill, then Drain, then Fill to 1.5 marks, the fresh water tank.
6. Flush all water lines, hot and cold.
7. Verify demand pump works.
8. Check tire pressures, put to 35 psi, remember to check spare.
9. Check lug nut (13/16”) torque is 92 ft #
10. Check battery water.
11. Turn on both Propane tanks.
12. Install Propane alarm fuse and Smoke detector battery.
13. Verify the following work on propane; stove, water heater, furnace, and refrigerator.
14. Torque Equalizer drawbar bolts (15/16”) to 46 ft# with bars in loosest position.
15. Verify Intercoms and flashlight have batteries.
16. Empty waste tanks into house toilet.
17. Put peanut oil (valve lube) in toilet, and 1 cup in each waste tank.
18. Add 1 gallon water in black, and say a quart in sink drain.

pics from this weekend. It was too cold and crappy outside to enjoy the beach or a camp fire.

RE: condensation on windows

This was our first time camping in our 2000 flagstaff TT. It was pretty nasty outside so I was bored and started cleaning the windows and screens on the inside. The black******and mold that came off was just plain nasty. The gook was not even from us. It was laying at the bottem of the windows. It too me 1/2 a roll of paper towels to get it all off. The window trim is black so its not that visable by eye.
The condensation on the windows is what prompted me to clean the windoes and Im glad I did.
here is a pic

RE: Winterization

plug in a small space heater. I use a safe oil filled type. Its got a very low setting to prevent freezing. Gas is getting expensive around here. 20-23$ to fill a tank

RE: Need a voltmeter w/alarm

I do not think a battery voltage alarm would be practical. Battery voltage is like a rubber band which is pulled up with a charge and down with a load. The alarm would be going off all the time. Battery voltage is only indicative of charge level when there is no load and no charge. IMHO
This is true. I guess I will find out when it comes and I try it out. If anyting it stops me from having to bring a my nice multi meter on trips. :W

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

professor95 I found your photobucket page. Whooooo you have been busy tinkering with the solar and generator power huh ? It looks like an excellent idea to use my trucks existing camper cover to house my generator. Duh....
thanks for the ideas.

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

FYI: I was at a local homedepot and saw a Champion gen for 199$ It was an introductory price the sign said. I think it was a 3000-4000 watt model just like the 3500 Power pro.
This was last week at the home depot here on Long Island Ny in the riverhead location.

RE: Washing EPDM rubber roof

does anyone elses EPDM roof seem like it was not glued down to the underlayment? I do some roofing at work and have only installed one EPDM roof on a commercial kitchen and we used firestone rubber cement to glue it to the recomended underlayment.
On my TT the roof just seems like its got lots of large uneven bubbles. Like the company just skipped the rubber cement process.
